Making Christmas Morning Special

Food For Santa

Santa Claus works very very hard on Christmas Eve. Be sure to leave him out some food and drink with a little note to say thank-you when he visits. That way he can have a quick rest before he continues on his busy schedule around the world.

Santa loves to eat:

  • Cookies
  • Chocolate
  • Cheese and Crackers
  • Fruit

Santa loves to drink:

  • A glass of milk
  • A glass of red wine
  • A small glass of port

Food For The Reindeers

Now you have Santa Claus organised.....don't forget his helpers the Reindeers, they work really hard too.

Reindeer love to eat:

  • Chopped up carrot

Reindeer love to drink:

  • A bowl of water with a little bit of green food colouring

If your children are lucky they may even see some left over snow all the way from the North Pole. Put spots of water based white snow around the Christmas Tree or some Reindeer footprints around the food and drink they consumed whilst Santa was busy inside. WOW!!!
Parents your creativity can help create some magical and memorable moments. It is amazing how it can snow in sunny Australia on Christmas morning

Giving Presents

It is not a competition as to how many presents or how much money you can spend on your child for Christmas. In ten years time they won't remember what Santa brought them when they were five but they will remember the magic, fun and happy family moments that were associated with Christmas time. So no matter what budget, your focus should be on the family and presenting the concept of Christmas to your child so that they will always think of Christmas fondly and those warm thoughts will carry on with them to their adult years.

How can you do this?

Well some ideas to get your creative minds thinking would be

  • Use santa sacks. Whether they are home made or brought make a big deal about the Santa sack. Let your child specially place it where they feel it should be. Give them little hints, like near the "milk and cookies", or "maybe not in your room as Santa doesn't want to wake you up" so as not to give yourself a nervous breakdown at the task at hand.
Re-inforce to your child that you will all go to check if santa has been together in the morning and hype up the excitement of finding a sack with present/presents in it. Maybe on your way show your child the snow left behind or check to see if the reindeer have been. Anticipation creates the excitement and magic of Christmas
  • So Santa left two presents in the sack, but he also left a little note saying he has hidden another present in the room. Treasure hunts are always fun. Maybe you have three kids and santa left  a joint present for them all to find together.

Simple ideas, that don't cost you anything help create and make the perfect atmosphere for a happy Christmas

Presents.....What will Santa Bring

Put some thought into your child's Christmas presents. Yes, they all want the latest and greatest toy out but will they be tired of it in a month and now your toy room has taken over your whole house. Have a read through our education section and look at the benefits a toy will offer your child. It doesn't mean you have to buy them a book and notepad to take notes for Christmas, toys often have subtle educational benefits without the child realising they are learning and developing as a result of playing with that toy.
