Food Ideas
Here is a few tips to reduce the hassle of preparing a party feast:
Plan your menu in advance to ensure you have plenty of time to shop for the ingredients and prepare the food. Try to link food choice in with the theme of the party.- It is important to be aware of children with allergies or special dietary needs, you don't want any sick kids. Check with parents who RSVP if their kids have any food allergies and be mindful of this when preparing the menu.
- Ensure that your menu includes recipes that can be prepared prior to the day of the party so you are not trying to do everything last minute.
- Don't go overboard, carefully consider how many guests will be coming and how much they are realistically going to eat. Keep portions small, kids only need a small taste of each item. Be sure to have a few extras in case they're any unexpected guests. Any uneated treats can be added to childrens lolly bags at the end of the party.
- Children tend to go straight for the sweets so when serving the meal put savoury items on the table first and reserve the sweet things for at least ten minutes later.
- Make the food appealing by ensuring it is tasty, decorative, brightlycoloured and most of all fun to eat.
- Crisps and lollies make good fillers but don't stuff the kids full of junk food.
- Be sure to provide plenty of drinks. Have a range of drinks that is not all sugary.
- Take precautions and be aware of child safety. Don't leave knives, scissors or matches within your guests reach.
