    healthdirect Australia is a 24-hour telephone health advice line staffed by Registered Nurses to provide expert health advice.

    It is currently available to residents of the Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory, South Australia and Western Australia. healthdirect will be made progressively available to residents of New South Wales and Tasmania and is scheduled to be a fully national service by 2011. A joint initiative of the Australian Government and the governemnts of the ACT, NSW, NT, Tasmania, SA and WA, healthdirect can be contacted on 1800 022 222 (calls from landlines are free but mobile phone charges may apply).

    If you are not sure whether your symptoms are serious or nothing to worry about, or you baby won't stop crying and you don't know what's wrong or your away from home and you need to find a doctor or you need to know more about managing diabetes, asthma or other health conditions healthdirect can help with these questions and lots, lots more.
