Epilepsy
Epilepsy is common neurological medical condition reported to affect 1-2% of the population. Epilepsy is a disruption of the normal electrical activity of the brain that results in seizures. Under certain circumstances anyone can have a seizure, it is only when there is a tendency to have recurrent seizures that epilepsy is diagnosed. There are many different types of seizures and not all involve the jerking of muscles as most people automatically associate with epilepsy.
It is valuable for people with epilepsy, their family, friends and carers to have an understanding of the many aspects of the medical condition to help the person achieve overall seizure control.
