Packing For The Hospital!
Preparing your bag for the hospital is fun and exciting but can be difficult if you are unsure of what to pack. Here is a few ideas!
For Mum:
Your Labor Bag:
- Your birth plan
- If applicable your anntenatal card and health insurance information
- Watch with a secondhand to time contractions
- Loose fitting nightie or T-shirt for labor if you don't want to wear a gown
- Massage Gel and/or Massager
- Lip Balm
Your Postpartum Bag:
- Comfortable Clothing
- Slippers or Socks
- Dressing Gown
- Loose fitting, comfortable PJ's that open at the front for easy breast feeding
- Maternity Bra's
- Underwear
- 2 packs of Maternity Pads
- 2 Packs of Nursing Pads
- Nipple Cream
- Breast Feeding Cushion
- Toiletries - toothbrush, toothpaste, cleanser, moisteriser, hairbrush, hair ties, lip balm, shampoo and conditioner
- Video Camera/Camera (with batteries or fully charged)
- Pen and Notepad
- Going home outfit
For Baby:
- Plenty of singlets, bibs and all in one suits
- Pair of socks or booties, pair of mittens and a baby hat
- Check what the hospital provides in terms of baby lotions, nappies and wipes
- Blanket or Wrap for Baby
- Going home outfit for baby
- Baby car restraint to be fitted prior to discharge
For Dad/Support Person:
- Change of clothes and underwear
- Bathers (incase you want to assist your partner in the shower/bath during labor)
- Toiletries
- Change for Parking and Vending Machine
- Video Camera/Camera (with batteries or fully charged)
- Cell phone and list of people to contact when bubs has arrived
- Snacks and Drinks
